MERCY AND COMPASSION

MERCY AND COMPASSION
by: John Juat

Do you ever feel down, depressed and lonely?
Is your heart filled with heaviness and anxiety?
Are you discouraged by the sins you do repetitively?
Then it's about time you reflect on God's mercy

Recall once again the poor woman caught it adultery
Jesus came to her side and treated her with mercy
Instead of being stoned, Jesus forgave her completely
It is truly great to ponder on this mystery

Let us also take advantage of Jesus' love for humanity
By loving and going to Confession frequently
For in every time we confess our sins sincerely
We are embraced by Jesus, forgiven and accepted wholeheartedly

How then do we minister to the weak and the needy?
The abandoned, the sick, the poor and the lonely
Console them, spend time with them and see their dignity
For in the eyes of our Lord Jesus, we are but one family

Let us obey Jesus' words on how to show mercy
By clothing the naked and feeding the hungry
Visiting the sick and imprisoned, showing them charity
For whatsoever you do to the least, you do to Me

Let us show love to the last, least and lost of society
By empathizing with them, by entering into their misery
No matter how little we think we have, choose to give freely
Without seeking anything in return, and in humility

MODESTY

MODESTY
By: John Walter B. Juat

One way to live the virtue of Chastity
Is by practicing a similar virtue: Modesty
It seems it’s losing its meaning in society
Everything seems to be so earthly

Modesty is when one dresses up appropriately
Avoiding wearing skimpy shorts or spaghetti
It is not at all wrong to dress comfortably
But remember to do so with decency

In practicing modesty, you can still dress fashionably
It’s not something limiting, you can still choose freely
It’s not essential that the skirt is below the knee
But be wise, don’t be revealing and dress responsibly

Practicing modesty, one no longer needs to worry
How people will treat you, what they will see
‘Coz once you’re covered, what is emphasized is beauty
Your true inner beauty and not your body

Modesty is also a training ground for fidelity
Because it allows you to see the other with clarity
Though it takes a lot of sacrifice and self-mastery
It trains yourself and the other to love purely

If you want others to treat you respectfully
To accept you as you are, not only your sexuality
Make a choice to struggle to live modestly
It’s a right choice. For sure you won’t feel sorry

Finally, modesty is a virtue that protects purity
And about seeing yourself with great dignity

Prayer for Peace for the Persecuted Christians

Prayer for Peace for the Persecuted Christians
by: John B. Juat

Father God, King of peace, hear my prayer
To stop this systematic Christian massacre
Hear my plea, my perfect Heavenly Father
Intercede for me, my loving Blessed Mother

Look upon us with Mercy, my dear Mama Mary
Put an end to so much crimes against humanity
Protect the Christians, mother, those who chose to flee
Give them food, shelter, love and security

I beg you, dear Jesus, stop this persecution
Men, women, even children experienced execution
Raped, beheaded, hung, a continuous annihilation
Lord Jesus, please, have mercy and give us a solution

Asking the intercession of all the saints, hear my cry
I don’t understand this persecution, I can only ask why
Whisper my intentions to my Father, God on High
That this will soon end and nobody else has to die

Father God, accept this prayer for peace I offer you
I trust that in your great love, my prayer will come true

AMEN

Chastity

Chastity
By: John B. Juat

In this day and age, how can one practice Chastity?
Is it even possible to live purely?
Yes. Go against the dictates of society
Go and struggle to be chaste, though it's not easy

Is it possible to overcome masturbation
Especially if it has become an addiction?
Yes. Be brave and go often to Confession
And receive our Lord frequently in Communion

What about pornography, is it okay?
What about to read the book 50 Shades of Grey?
No. Go against it in every possible way
Ask help from Mary. She won't allow us to stray

For young couples deeply in love, can sex wait?
If they wait for marriage, it might be too late
No. Trust God and in His plans cooperate
Save your body and soul for that sacred date

Struggle young people, bravely put up this fight
Don't take it lightly. See it as black and white
Be strong. Be strong. We will be guided by the Light
To carefully guard our thoughts, hearts, words and our sight

Go against the flow and feel no sense of shame
Run away from temptation and call on His Name
Make an effort to make our sexual tendencies tame
And allow us to be consumed by His loving flame

Do not ever forget chastity is a choice
Possible only if we listen to His voice

The Holy Trinity

The Holy Trinity
by: John B. Juat

Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one great mystery
One God in three persons, equal in majesty
Together sharing in the fullness of glory
Bounded perfectly by love to form the Trinity

Who is God the Father? He is the Maker
And of all our needs, He's the Great Provider
He's all knowing, all present and the God of Power
Though He's also the loving, caring, forgiving Father

The Son is Jesus, the Savior of humanity
He came to us to break the bonds of slavery
He spilled His precious blood so that we could be free
To be with Him someday for all eternity

The Spirit is the Paraclete and the Helper
His fruits and gifts are given to make us better
From the stains of sin, He's known to be the Cleanser
He's responsible to prepare us to meet the Father

Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one great mystery
One God in three persons, equal in majesty
Together sharing in the fullness of glory
Bounded perfectly by love to form the Trinity

THANK YOU

THANK YOU
by: John B. Juat

I thank the Lord for giving me

Thousands of reasons to be happy
Hundreds of little miracles which i ought to see
A trustworthy friend that brings out the best in me
New opportunities to prove how much I love Thee
Knowing people who are examples of real charity

You're the one I'm especially thankful for
One big miracle; now I can't ask for more
Understanding and patient even when I close my door

Seventeen years have already been through
Only have I been truly happy the moment I found you

Many are the things i wish to say
Under the protection of God, may you always stay
Continue being who you are; love and serve day to day
Happiness for you, I shall always pray

Thank you, Gabbie

Thank you, Gabbie
(a poem in honor of Gabriella P. Jose) +
By: John Walter Brown Juat

Thank you Lord for the gift of our dear Gabbie
For giving her a loving and wonderful family
Mitch, John, Matthew, you are truly blessed greatly
Because you have raised her to be the best that she could be

Gabbie, you have blessed us with your simplicity
Your strength and perseverance during your agony
Thank you Gabbie, for accepting this cross lovingly
Because through it, you have truly inspired many

Though we miss you beyond words, Gabbie,
We are comforted by the fact that you are now happy
Face to face with God, for all eternity
Forever praising Him; sharing in His glory

With the guidance and love of our Mama Mary,
From all pain and suffering, you are now free.
Gabbie, pray for us as we continue life’s journey;
Watch over us and lead us Home, where you are, safely

As much as we miss you, Gabbie, we miss you terribly
You will forever be alive in our heart and in our memory

Tribute to Fr. Francisco Bernardo

Fr. Francisco Bernardo
 ni: John B. Juat

Aking mahal na si Fr. Bernardo

Nature

NATURE
John B. Juat

Have you ever asked why the grass is green?
Or why the rainbows are filled with beauty?
All things on earth is a romantic scene
For God made us part of His love story

Our planet is truly a pleasant place
Birds that chirp and the chilly breeze gives peace
The beauty of nature is part of His grace
I pray that this beauty will never cease

However, our resources do not last
Before we know, all things will be consumed
Will our children see the beauty so vast?
Or will they live on earth already doomed?

Let us all do our part to save this earth
So our kids can see the world in its worth!

Isang Daang Milyon

Isang Daang Milyon
Ni: John B. Juat

Aabot na raw sa isang daang milyon
Ang dami ng ating populasyon
Paano na? Paano na tayo ngayon?
Ano nga ba ang tamang aksyon?

Paano na ang mahihirap na walang makain?
Kaya pa ba natin sila palakihin?
Paano ang mga bata? Kaya ba natin sila paaralin?
Isang daang milyon na tayo. Ano ang ating gagawin?

Isang daang milyon nga tayo, e ano ngayon?

My Everything

MY EVERYTHING
John B. Juat

I
Everytime I see your face
time seems to skip a pace
I hope to be with you 'till the end of days
For you always inspire me to run life's race

II
I do love thee my little queen
your beauty is the best the eye has seen
though imperfect, for me perfect you have been
all of these things I really mean

III
among all I've met, you have the heart of gold
so much is your love, it will never run cold
when you correct me you are always bold
it is your hands I always long to hold

IV
I can never seem to forget your smile
your charming face and your great style
for you I will go the extra mile
If only assured you'll walk with me down the aisle

V
Let me stay in your arms, my dear
I’ll never leave you. I’ll always be here

WISH FOR A FRIEND

WISH FOR A FRIEND
By: John B. Juat

You are someone very blessed
I know you can succeed whatever test
Just go to Him, and you’ll have rest
Before you know it, you’ll be at your best

Stand up, be strong, and have no fear
Just call on me and immediately I’ll be near
When you have things to say, I’ll lend my ear
And for sure I’ll wipe away every drop of tear

You have made me happy and strong
So I’ll be here even when things go wrong
Whatever happens, just thank God in prayer and in song
And you can bet a million angels will be singing along

I hope that you will be happy everyday
For you and your family I will always pray
Follow and love Christ for He is the way
For Joy and peace to be experienced day by day

I will always be here for you
I will be myself, I will be true
You are one of the best friends I ever knew
I will make it a point never to leave you sad and blue

What I wish for you is good health and success
Peace, love, and a lot of happiness
Even though we have our carelessness
Remain brave and show them all you’ve got, no less

Be careful in choosing the path you take
And most especially the friends you make
It’s not only for my joy, but for your sake
So that peace of mind of yours will never be fake

Always be humble and learn from the wise
Some of them may be angels in disguise
Keep in mind that you were bought at a great price
One which needed our Christ’s supreme sacrifice

You really mean a lot to me
I want you to be the best you can be
There is one thing in you that I can clearly see
The love of Jesus in your heart, burning brightly

SUNRISE

SUNRISE

John Walter B. Juat

I woke up and the sky was black
Everything was but a painting

            I waited
And soon the sun greeted me
Its orange rays pampered my skin
Like dew drops drizzling
The chorale of birds began their chants
The bees danced to the music of the wind
The apple-colored bud bloomed to an adult rose
The trees waved its hello to me
The grass bowed down before me
Like a servant to a Chinese emperor
Rainbow butterflies whispered me a love note
The mantis clapped its hands and found its way to play sack race
The fresh breeze kissed me
And the little bushes wiggled their hair

I was sitting all alone
When I heard a voice
He was my dear friend clothed in the sun
He was the boy child Jesus, the master gardener
Along with Him were seven white doves.
He embraced me and said, “Welcome.”
“Welcome to a new day.”

Nightmare

NIGHTMARE
by John B. Juat

All kinds of suffering storming me
like a giant tsunami battering the coast
            broken families
babies screaming within pleading for their lives
street vendors eating only once a day

Meteorites are plunging down
crushing my hopes
of a usual ending in a fairy tale
to a drop of water against the vast ocean.

Daggers are flying at the speed of light
finding its way to my heart

air turns to poison
the breeze touches me like a hurricane
a drizzle comes crushing me like a hundred elephants
and the heavens disintigrate into a dark abyss

I woke up          suddenly
pupils dilated
heart beating ever so quickly
catching my breath
sweat were flowing flooding the floor

i sat
quenched my thirst and screamed

"this is just a nightmare"

Carry on, pro-life warriors

CARRY ON, PRO-LIFE WARRIORS
by: John B. Juat

Get up, pro-life warriors, and stay awake
The enemy is advancing at such a quick pace
Arise, warrior, the future is at stake
Quickly put on your armor of God's grace

Take courage, fellow warriors, and feel no sense of shame
What we are fighting for is definitely worth it
We are fighting for the unborn, the family, and God's Holy Name
Carry on, pro-life warriors. Don't be disheartened. Don't ever quit.

In this war between the darkness and the light
We find ourselves among those in the frontline
It is true we will definitely be wounded in the fight
But let us put our trust in Him and allow His power to shine

Carry on, pro-life warriors, stand true to our mission
Even if our enemies surround us at every side
We will suffer and we will fall, but rise and carry on
The Holy Spirit is our Helper, our Strength and our Guide.

Against the evil forces that bring confusion, fear and destruction
Fear not, warriors of Christ, we will claim our victory
Even if we should suffer discouragement and persecution
Let us all stand firm, all for His greater glory

Sana kayo ay maging tapat, plataporma'y panindigan
Sa mga panukalang-batas, bago lagdaan
Sana ay suriin ng mabuti at tingnan
Ano ba talaga ang nilalaman?
Ito ba ay talagang kailangan?
Nakabubuti ba ito sa taong-bayan?
Binoto namin kayo noong halalan

Ating edukasyon, ating pahalagahan
Huwag baliwalain ang nakukuhang karunungan
Dahil nasa atin nakasalalay ang magandang kinabukasan
Kapag mayroon tayong kailangang desisyonan

Gawa Ni: John B. Juat

Lord Allan Velasco

*Special Mention: 9YL. Mabuhay kayo lahat! Sana dumagdag pa ang numero na yan :)

Attempting True Development

Attempting True Development
by: John B. Juat

Quickly kill the RH bill; send it to the trash
It's dividing the nation; It's making people clash
Different groups name-call and use rude comments to bash
It is an insult if we should exchange our culture for cash

The RH bill is but a waste of time and of people's tax
Why don't we invest instead in what our country lacks?
Read the bill and research in order to know the facts
In this way, we become pro-active rather than being lax

The RH bill is dangerous because of its strategy: stealth.
It disguises their population control agenda using "reproductive health"
There are many things harmful and deceitful; it's not only about health
It's about trying to limit our population - our country's wealth

How come in essential things, the budget is significantly cut?
It is our poor brothers that would have benefited, is it not?
Three billion pesos is a big amount that can benefit quite a lot!
Let's give them what they truly need; let's not keep our eyes shut

HIV, maternal health and infant health are already addressed in existing laws
Why invest time and money in the RH bill when it's filled with flaws?
If we allow this bill to pass, our country will be at a loss
Listen to us, our president; after all you said "we are your boss"

If we should truly progress, we should have one vision
We should try to find a way to end graft and corruption
Use our wealth wisely, ensure its proper allocation
Rather than promote harmful means to limit the population

There are a lot more practical ways to use our country's money
Than to promote contraception and instill a very unhealthy mentality
We are aware of the problems, let us solve each of them accordingly
If we do this, we are surely on our way to true development in our country

Invest in education, health care and infrastructure
Create livelihood, promote tourism and agriculture
These are some things we need so we can be sure
That our beloved Philippines will have a good future

*I made this poem as inspired by the 9 Young Legislators and YUP! (Youth United for the Philippines)

Dilemma

Dilemma
By John B. Juat

I
Your hazelnut eyes and killer smile
Make my heart melt and be a man of wile
Your hair black as a moonless night
I can’t resist you, I won’t give up this fight

II
Never in my life have I felt this way
I wish that in each other’s arms we’ll forever stay
I hope that we’ll never have to be apart
I’ll give you everything, my mind, soul and my heart

III
Why do you do this to me my dear?
I am terribly confused, I am filled with much fear
Should I fight for our love, or should I now flee
Before my emotions drown in this violent sea?

IV
I love you so much, I cannot just let you go
But my heart dictates it cannot be so
For God called me to be alone when serving Him
I don’t know what to do. I’m lost. My life is dim

V
I’m sure it hurts you, but it actually kills me
Knowing that together we can never be
Its over between us, I have no choice
But i can no longer resist His lovable voice

VI
Goodbye to you, my dear,
But God calls me, I hear

YOU WERE MADE FOR SOMETHING GREAT

YOU WERE MADE FOR SOMETHING GREAT
By: John B. Juat

Look at yourself in the mirror, woman, who do you see?
Do you see your face filled with greatness and beauty?
You were made for something great; you were made to be free
You were made with so much worth and so much dignity

You, woman, are a precious gift; never put it to waste
There is no need to rush things, no need to make haste
Appreciate your greatness and beauty; always be chaste
And God will reward you; good things in life you’ll be able to taste

Take care of this greatness, woman, take care of your body
Never give your dignity in exchange for fame or money
Remember that outside marriage, it’s best to say no and to flee
Rather than risking desecration of your temple of beauty

Do not listen to the lies that contraceptives give you power
"Sexual Liberation" reduces your worth and makes you lower
Do not ever forget your worth, you were made for something better
Because nothing can ever compare to the greatness of being a mother

Listen, woman, you were made for something great
In marriage, God gives you the power to procreate
Accept children lovingly; they are not things you should hate
Because true joy will be felt when in God’s plans you cooperate

No matter how handsome, rich, kind, responsible or smart
No man can ever satisfy the deepest desires of your heart
Every single day of your life, be sure to make God an essential part
Only God can complete you; He who thought of you from the start

Look at yourself in the mirror, woman, who do you see?
Do you see your face filled with greatness and beauty?
God made you for something great; you were made to be free
God made you with so much worth and so much dignity

Muslim pa man o Kristiyano, dapat tulungan ang gobyerno
Sama sama tayong magsikap, huwag puro ikaw o ako

Upang matuto tayong lubusang magtiwala

Huwag tayo maging parang asong sunod sunuran

An Inspiring Conversation

AN INSPIRING CONVERSATION
by John B Juat

Me:
I don't want to live another day in this earth
I am nothing, I have no more worth
So much suffering, sorrow and so much pain
I just can't take it anymore, it's driving me insane

Lord:
Come and tell me everything you wish to say
Tell me your worries, tell me what happened today
No matter how busy you are, find some time to pray
And I assure you, I will make sure things will be okay

Me:
Somehow things are still too difficult to bear
People do not love me, people do not care!
My hopes and dreams are crashing down, i can only ask why
Sometimes i just wish I would instantly die

Lord:
My child, why don't you stop for a while? Why don't you pause?
And understand that everything happens for a cause
Learn to love and embrace My cross
And you will never ever feel at a loss

Me:
I am blinded by a lot of things, i can no longer see
I find it impossible to believe the earth is filled with beauty
There are a lot of things that i cannot understand
Lord Jesus Christ, please, take me by the hand

Lord:
I love you so much. Right by your side I will always stay
You are my everything to Me, my Child. I love you in a special way
Trust in Me and believe that I'm here for you everyday
Hold on, have faith, I will be the one to find a way

Me:
Yes, Lord, You know what is best for me
I trust in your love, goodness and your mercy
I am lost, so I come to you, Father, for grace
That each trial I encounter may be for your glory and praise

Imperium Spei

Imperium Spei
by: John Juat

Did you ever wonder
why life is so tough?
all you need is to ponder
and things will not be as rough

weak and useless you say you are
and from peace and joy you are far
but search your heart and you will see
that there is something great within me

think of good things, think of love
think of the freedom of that pure white dove
think of forgiveness and think of peace
soon, yours will be the happiness that will never cease

Imagine all these being given to you
It's Heaven below, it's a dream come true
only when you stop and count your blessings
Will you be truly happy even with sufferings

Did you ever wonder
why life is so tough?
all you need is to ponder
and things will not be as rough

*imperium spei is latin for 'the power of hope'

SULONG, LABAN, KAPWA KO KABATAAN

SULONG, LABAN, KAPWA KO KABATAAN

Sila’y minamaliit, at tila nagiging isang kagamitan
Sulong, laban, kabataan, sila’y ating protektahan

Sulong, laban, kabataan, huwag tayong susuko

Mayday! Mayday!

Mayday! Mayday!
by: John B. Juat

We are all passengers on a dangerous flight
Flying blindly on a black, moonless night
Due to heavy turbulence, the plane's struggling to gain height
How long will this agony be? Our destination is not in sight

The plane loses altitude at an alarming rate
To the pilot's controls, it won't cooperate
We're all scared; We don't know our fate
We hope conditions improve before it's too late

All of a sudden, the plane starts to stall
And our tears quickly start to fall
The engine sputters and makes a loud sound
It's almost certain we'll crash to the ground

Regret and fear fill our cold body
Tears fill our eyes, we cannot see
In unison we turn to God to hear our plea
To safely land where we should be

The pilot says "brace yourself for impact, brace"
Everyone on board has a pale face
We tell our God that we will change our ways
If He leads us safely to our desired place

Message:

We can compare this entire scenario of a plane crash to the situation in our beloved country. God is the air traffic controller leading the plane safely to our destination .P-Noy is our pilot and He leads us to our destination. He tries to control the plane and fly it safely. He tries to direct us to progress in our country. We are the passengers of the plane, awaiting progress in our country and hoping for good things to come. The heavy turbulence are the temptations around including too much freedom, the anti-life, anti-family and anti-youth bills now in congress. Our Filipino values are the fuel that runs into the engine of the plane. We can see nowadays that the values are deteriorating, and that explains why the engine starts to conk out, and consequently fear, anguish and regret follow as the plane loses altitude and is about to crash. The dark moonless night means that we are already losing visibility due to the constant attack to the Church and the family, leading to the loss of values.

For the plane to successfully reach the destination, there needs to be a cooperation of the plane itself, the pilot, and also obeying the commands of the air traffic controller. God leads us to goodness, but we also have a part to play, and that is to revive and uphold the values we have. If we do not do our part, it will be such a waste. It is not too late. Let us cooperate with God so that with one goal in mind we can surely experience progress, happiness, and peace in our dear Philippines.
